Our Galena, Illinois bed and breakfast is an adults-only, nature lover’s destination, with 10 secluded acres of meadows and gardens, in a panoramic valley, just 8 miles from downtown Galena. Come explore our walking trail, visit the pond, watch the birds, and take in a sunset; just you two.
Hawk Valley Retreat’s seemingly remote location is actually conveniently close to all of the best that Galena has to offer. Romantic restaurants, like Fritz & Frites or Goldmoor Dining & Spirits and great night spots with music and drinks like Miss Kitty’s Grape Escape.
You can also spend some time on the slopes at Chestnut Mountain Resort, enjoy a glass of locally made wine at Galena Cellars, or browse the many fine shops found along Galena’s historic Main Street.
Speaking of Main Street, if you’re in Galena the weekend before Valentine’s Day, you can take part in the annual Chocolate Lovers Stroll! This fun event nets you 10 yummy chocolate treats as you stroll along the one-of-a-kind shops and restaurants of Galena’s historic Main Street. February 10, 2024, 12pm to 4pm.

The Hawk Valley Retreat & Cottages Valentine’s Dinner for Two is scheduled for Saturday, February 17, 2024, from 6pm or 7pm. As we say above, this candle-lit, four-course dinner will take place in our romantic Cording Event Barn.
Valentine’s Dinner for Two Menu
Starter – Assorted Appetizers for two
Salad – Fresh Greens with Balsamic Viniagrette and Homemade Foccacia
Main – Beef Wellington and Garlic Shrimp with a Double Baked Potato
Dessert – Cheesecake and Chocolate Cake with Fresh Berry Sauce
Drink – Choice of Wine or Sparkling Wine

Hi Tara, we don’t normally do one night stays on the weekend. we can do it on Saturday the 17th, in one of the rooms of the house, but not a cottage. We would have to do a check-in between 3pm and 5pm because of the dinner. If interested, give us a call at 815-777-4100
