Celebrate the Galena Nouveau Celebration 2026

Inspired by the French Beaujolais Nouveau tradition, Galena’s annual celebration marks the arrival of the first wine of the recent harvest. Nouveau wines are bottled shortly after fermentation and intended to be enjoyed young, with an emphasis on fresh flavors and the pleasure of sharing a glass with friends.

Galena Cellars introduced its local celebration in 1985. What began as a wine release has grown into a community tradition, bringing visitors and residents together for a weekend of food, wine, and entertainment.

The festivities begin Friday, November 20, with the Nouveau luncheon at Galena Cellars’ downtown tasting room, located at 111 N. Main Street. The new wine is officially introduced with a celebratory toast, and the fun continues throughout the afternoon.

One of the weekend’s most distinctive traditions is the Nouveau Parade, beginning at 2:30pm on Friday.

The celebration continues Saturday, November 21, with opportunities to enjoy both downtown Galena and the surrounding wine country.

At Galena Cellars Vineyard, approximately six miles from downtown, visitors can sample award-winning wines while enjoying the vineyard’s countryside setting. Seasonal favorites include hot spiced wine and caramel apple wine, especially appealing on a crisp November afternoon.

Blues musician Keith Scott performs at the vineyard from 1pm to 4pm, making this a particularly enjoyable stop for wine lovers who appreciate live music.

Back downtown, Galena Cellars’ Main Street tasting room hosts live music by Jacquie Miller from 5pm to 8pm. It’s a convenient way to continue your evening before or after dinner at one of Galena’s many restaurants.
