Yes, if you are having the Ultimate Wedding Package, then children can stay and be part of the event. If you are doing any of the other packages, children can attend the ceremony but cannot stay overnight.
Yes. We will send you a link to event liability insurance and then you can bring in your own alcohol.
The maximum number of guests we are allowed is 40.
Due to zoning, all group events must end by 11 p.m. Rehearsal dinners may use the barn until 9 pm.
Yes. While we provide a small flower arrangement for all tables and will decorate the wedding arch, you can bring in your own décor if you prefer. We ask that nothing is hung or taped to any of the walls of the barn, common areas, or room. You are responsible for the clean-up of any decorations that you bring yourself. Glitter, sequins, or other similar decorations are not allowed.
For indoor ceremonies, we provide a hanging barnwood arch with tulle and greenery. For outdoor ceremonies, we have a rustic wooden arbor that has tulle and greenery. In both cases, we also decorate with lanterns and flowers/plants.
For catered meals, we provide white tablecloths and napkins, white plates, flatrware, glasses, votive candles, and a small floral arrangement. Whenever possible, we use flowers and greenery from our property.
No. Hawk Valley Retreat and Cottages does any catering on-site. The only outside food allowed is favors that are wrapped and intended to be taken home by the guests.
Most couples choose to be married in front of our willow tree in our rustic wooden arbor.. If it is just the couple, our Gazebo is also a popular choice. The Cording Event Barn is the backup for inclement weather.
You can also arrange for a tent if you want extra insurance for rain or to shade the sun.
Yes, to be married at Hawk Valley Retreat & Cottages you need to obtain a marriage license from Jo Daviess County. The courthouse is located in downtown Galena. You must get the license at least one day before the ceremony and not more than 60 days prior to the ceremony. If we are officiating the marriage, we will return it to the courthouse for you.
Yes. While the officiating is part of the package, you may bring your own if you prefer.
Yes, if you want dancing, we will clear several tables after the meal to facilitate the dancing.
Yes, we have a sound system in the barn which you can plug your own device into. We also have microphones you can use for a slight additional charge. For outdoor ceremonies, we have a wireless Bluetooth speaker that can be used.
