Grant’s Home Front Civil War Reenactment 2024

Galena’s annual Home Front Civil War Reenactment is a family friendly, living history event, held the last weekend of every April. People come from all around the country to see actors portraying soldiers and citizens of the 1860’s, along with reenactments of the Siege of Vicksburg and the Battle of Fever River.

Attendees to the event can visit the encampment, watch military drills, daily battles, medical demonstrations, and interact with the reenactors. You may even get a chance to talk with General Grant and his staff!

Living history stations in camp include infantry, artillery, medical, and civilian. Weekend events include a military drills, civilians in historically accurate attire, dancing, a church service, and the two Civil War battles.

You’ll also want to stop by the Sanitary Fair, a Civil War Ladies Bazaar held in support of the troops. The variety of beautiful, handmade items for sale make wonderful gifts and keepsakes of the weekend.
